The tearful goodbye for tvN’s ‘Queen of Tears’ was a ratings smash, etching the drama into the network’s history books. The series finale, which aired on April 28th, captivated viewers with a nationwide average rating of 24.850 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. This surpasses the previous record held by ‘Crash Landing on You,’ starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, which garnered 21.683 percent for its final episode in February 2020. 

 

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won led romance not only dominated Korean television but also garnered international acclaim. “Queen of Tears” secured the coveted third spot on global streaming platform OTT’s non-English content charts for several weeks, showcasing its widespread appeal. 

 

Meanwhile, other ongoing dramas saw varied results. JTBC’s mystery-thriller “Hide” concluded with a 4.0 percent average rating, while KBS 2TV’s “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” experienced a positive rise in viewership, reaching 15.2 percent for its latest episode. MBN’s historical drama “Missing Crown Prince” maintained a consistent performance, securing a 2.4 percent average rating for its sixth installment. 

 

The series has cemented its place as a K-drama powerhouse, shattering ratings records and proving the genre’s enduring grip on audiences. The series’ global success, reaching the top ranks on streaming platforms, highlights the growing international influence of Korean content. With its captivating plot and the combined star power of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, ‘Queen of Tears’ has become a must-watch for fans worldwide.
